Role of relative permeability hysteresis in modified salinity water flooding

Many laboratory and field scale trials have shown that modified salinity water flooding increases the mobility of oil improves recovery. However, simulation process guided by core data leads to inaccurate prediction recovery if effect saturation history reservoir on relative permeability is ignored. Here, we address this problem proposing three models illustrating interplay among wettability alteration, hysteresis effect, fluid flow transport in porous media. The provide variation imbibition secondary drainage curves versus caused alteration. Our simulations show including together with alteration can better quantify re-trapping mobilized due reservoir. We further capillary transition zone, where varies from top bottom reservoir, continues for a long time, although cut starts early, comparison an initial uniform saturation. Despite many experiments conducted advanced waterflooding, our observations measuring essential serves as valuable input waterflooding flooded reservoirs highly non-uniform history.
